Dear members,
After our last meeting held last February, we would be delighted to welcome you for a new session of our “Members’ time in China” webinar/meeting, with a special focus on Cross Border Data Transfers legal & practical updates. This meeting will be held online in Paris at FCC premises and in Beijing at DS AVOCATS premises, and be the opportunity to:
- Give you an insight on the political and economic situation between France and China in light with the recent French presidential visit in China.
- Have a presentation on the legal & practical updates on Cross Border Data Transfers with Isabelle DOYON, lawyer at DS AVOCATS, specialized in digital and personal data.
- Conduct a roundtable so that every member can share his views on this topic and on his business news.
About the present situation in China around Cross Border Data transfers: As personal data processing is becoming more and more important in the international economic world, and concerns more and more companies, China is also moving forward. While in May 2018, the European Union adopted the
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which sets constraints for companies to protect the privacy of European citizens’ personal data, China adopted in November 2021 its Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL).
Recently, China has taken a step towards regulating international data transfers by arming itself with new tools:
- The new « Standard Contractual Clauses » published on 24 February 2023, as the new standard contracts for cross-border transfers of personal data.
- Its implementation regulation scheduled to come into force on 1st June 2023.
This meeting is dedicated to both France and China based representatives of FCC member companies.
